Minutes of the Monthly School Board Meeting
January 18-19, 2008

SCHOOL BOARD RETREAT

The School Board of the City of Norfolk convened the retreat at 8:30 a.m. in the Murray Center located at 455 E. Brambleton Avenue, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Present were: Mr. Bishop (Chair), Vice Chair Rhodes, Mr. Cook, Mr. Driggers, Dr. McCluney, Dr. Tonelson, and Dr. Wright.   Superintendent Jones, Clerk Rhodes, and Panasonic consultants Andrew Gelber and George Perry also were present. 

The Board discussed:
  1. Planning for the 2008-2009 School Year which included strategic priorities and the budget.
  2. Communicating strategic priorities, budgetary needs, and justifications for the needs.
  3. Review the 2007-08 school year and discuss any mid-year needs for mid-course corrections.

The retreat ended Saturday, January 19th by 10:30 a.m. in order for the Board to go into the mid-year evaluation of the Superintendent.
