School Board of the City of Norfolk
Minutes of the School Board Work Session
May 30, 2007

The School Board convened the work session at 4:40 p.m. in the Superintendent’s Conference Room of the School Administration Building, located at 800 E. City Hall Avenue, in Norfolk, Virginia.  Present were:  Chair Bishop, Vice Chair Rhodes, Mr. Cook, Mr. Driggers, Dr. Tonelson and Deputy Clerk Stocks.  Dr. McCluney was absent.   Also present were Dr. Jones, Chief Operations Officer Spencer, Chief Financial Officer Schmitt, and Chief Information Officer Sullivan.   Ms. Melissa Tow was present along with Jane Pellegrino, Vizel Townsend, Dr. O’Konek, Dr. Dillard, and Mr. Scott.

The following topics were discussed:

1. 2007 Budget Summary          
2. 2008 Revenue Summary
3. Top of Pay Scale Issues
4. Retiree Benefits         
5. Pay and Classification Study
 
The Board agreed to meet again before the June 20th board meeting to make a decision on the pay scales.

The meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m.
