SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF NORFOLK

Minutes of the School Board Work Session
March 5 , 2007

PRESENT:      Chair Bishop, Vice Chair Rhodes, Mr. Cook, Mr. Driggers, Dr. McCluney, Dr. Tonelson, and Dr. Wright, Superintendent Jones, Chief of Staff Young, Chief Academic Officer Boone, Chief Operations Officer Spencer, Chief Financial Officer Schmitt, Chief Information Officer Sullivan, Mr. Jones, Dr. O’Konek, Dr. Lassiter, Mrs. Thomas, and Clerk Rhodes.
 
The School Board convened the work session 4 p.m. in the media center of Little Creek Elementary School, 7900 Tarpon Place, Norfolk, Virginia.

The board  received an overview of the budget request from Fred Schmitt and Jane Pellegrino.  They reviewed the budget book and questions were answered by the staff.  A short break was taken at 5:30 and when the board resumed its work, a discussion took place on how the board could communicate its needs and priorities regarding the budget.

The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
