Minutes of the School Board Retreat
January 19, 2007

The School Board of the City of Norfolk convened the retreat at 8:33 a.m. in the Murray Center located at 455 E. Brambleton Avenue, in Norfolk, Virginia.

Present were: Mr. Bishop (Chair), Mr. Cook, Dr. McCluney, Dr. Tonelson, and Dr. Wright. Vice Chair Rhodes and Mr. Driggers were absent. Superintendent Jones, Clerk Rhodes, and Panasonic consultants Andrew Gelber and George Perry also were present.

The Board discussed aspects of public engagement including:

  1. The Board’s role in public engagement.
  2. Objectives in increasing public engagement.
  3. Tools for increasing public engagement.

The meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
