SCHOOL BOARD OF THE CITY OF NORFOLK

MINUTES
October 10, 2006
Public Hearing on the Budget

PRESENT:      Chair Bishop, Vice Chair Rhodes, Mr. Cook, Mr. Driggers, Dr. McCluney, Dr. Tonelson, and Dr. Wright.   

Administrative Staff present were Superintendent Jones, Chief Financial Officer Schmitt, Chief Operations Spencer, Chief Academic Officer Boone, Executive Directors Jones, Lassiter, O’Konek, and Thomas, Jane Pellegrino, Senior Budget Director, and Clerk Rhodes. 

The School Board convened the public hearing at 6:15 p.m. in the auditorium of Campostella Elementary School at 1106 Campostella Road.  Mr. Bishop led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance.  He introduced members of the School Board and thanked Mrs. Sara Peoples-Perry,  principal, and her staff for their hospitality.  Mrs. Pellegrino gave an overview of the budget process.

Public comments were heard from the following persons:

            6.         John Bray
            7.         Monte Mercer, President of the Education Association of Norfolk
            8.         Robert Burns
            9.         Danny Johnson
            10.       Mary Simpson-Jones

The public hearing was adjourned at 7 p.m.
